The Cross is a Gift
As we celebrate Ascension Sunday (because of the transfer of Ascension Thursday to Sunday in the archdiocese) we reflect on Christ’s Divine humanity that is brought into heaven. God became man in the person of Jesus Christ and now brings that humanity into the heavenly reality. Jesus brings His glorified body into the heavenly realm, a body which bears the marks of the crucifixion. An indication that human suffering has now been elevated to the highest of planes.
We too should unite our suffering and crosses to the suffering of Christ that He might elevate them to the heavenly plane. In God’s design He has made it possible for the trials and tribulations of this life to be elevated through the person of His Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus has taken all of our suffering upon Himself. That is if we allow Him to do so “Throw all your worry on him, because he cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:7) Our crosses can bring us closer to Christ if we allow them.
Also, please pray for Deacon Adam Berning soon to be Father. As he and six other men will be ordained at the Cathedral next weekend. This is an exciting weekend for our family of parishes and a chance for each of us to be thankful for the gift of the priesthood.
Thank you to all of our parish employees and the work they provide. Please thank them for all they do.
Peace in Christ,
Fr. Jarred Kohn
