Divine Providence

Throughout my life, there have been moments when I thought something that took place in my life, whether it was tragic, difficult, or simply embarrassing, would be the figurative death of me. Yet in the end the Lord would again and again show me that it was an opportunity for new birth. The same sort of thinking has come over me at times as we approach Beacons of Light, and for me personally, becoming the pastor of many more children. With the increase in administrative workload, I fear that my family and close friends will not often be seen. Yet, I know that in this next stage of my life, as a man and as a priest, it will ultimately present me with the opportunities to become the saint I am called to be.

This will be the case for each parishioner of Holy Angels and of the entirety of the NW-7 Family of Parishes. We will be sanctified as we move into the Beacons process. It will not be easy, but we are Christians, and for Christians suffering is our path to holiness, not an obstacle to it. So let us take up our cross and follow the Lord.

Please note that next Saturday, June 18, we will not have our normal 4:30 p.m. Vigil Mass at Holy Angels because of the Holy Angels Parish Picnic. Come out for some fun next weekend at Lehman Catholic High School, where the picnic will be held! We will have our Vigil Mass at the chapel in Lehman Catholic High School at 3:00 p.m., and we will have Confessions from 8:45 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. at Holy Angels following the Saturday, June 18, 8:00 a.m. Mass.

On a more somber note, Jon Holland has resigned as the Youth Ministry Coordinator at Holy Angels. We wish him and his family the best and encourage you all to keep him in prayer too. We are still in the discernment stage of what we will do with youth ministry at Holy Angels moving forward. Beacons of Light complicates this so please be patient.

Please remember that on June 23 we will have our first Family of Parishes Day of Grace at Sacred Heart on Thursday, June 23, from 6:00 a.m.-9:30 p.m. This is a great opportunity for us to begin our Family of Parishes with the Sacraments and Divine Mercy. Our next Family of Parishes Holy Hour will be Sunday, June 26, at St. Michael from 7:00-8:00 p.m.

Thank you to everyone who has so generously given to Holy Angels. I know that as the economy continues to decline, times may get tough, but know that I offer frequent prayer for the benefactors of Holy Angels. I do truly appreciate you making the effort to fulfill one of the precepts of the Church that requires the faithful to contribute to the material needs of the Church. God bless you!

Peace in Christ,

Fr. Jarred Kohn
