Happy New Year!

This Sunday begins the First Sunday of Advent. This Sunday signals the beginning of the new liturgical year in the Church, and its significance also begins our preparation for Christmas, when we celebrate our Savior in the flesh. God unites Himself to creation so that He can save us from our sin (basically ourselves) by His Death on the Cross and His Resurrection on Easter Sunday. In Advent, we have the opportunity to reflect on how lost we are without Christ, and how hopeless our situation was until Jesus enters the scene. We need Him, and thankfully God is faithful and has delivered us from our sin.

A few notes, today we will have the first of our Mass Plus events in the Holy Angels Gym following the 11:00 a.m. Mass at Holy Angels. Then on Sunday, December 11, we have another Mass Plus event at St. Michael following the 11:00 a.m. Mass in St. Michael Hall. This will be an opportunity for you all to get to know your Faith better and to know your priest better.

Also, note that I will be having tavern talks on Friday, December 2 at Greenhaus Coffee from 1:00-3:00 p.m. and Sunday, December 18 at The Fort Loramie Brew Bank from 1:30-3:30 p.m. This will be an opportunity for you to get to know me better and share concerns and blessings you have received in the past few months.

Please remember that Thursday, December 8, the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, is a Holy Day of Obligation. So please mark your calendars to ensure you get to a Mass either the evening of Wednesday, December 7 or on Thursday, December 8. The Mass schedule is as follows:

•      Vigil Masses on Wednesday, December 7 – 6:00 p.m. at Ss. Peter & Paul (SPP), 7:00 p.m. at Holy Angels (HA), and 7:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus (SHJ).

•      Masses on Thursday, December 8 – 5:30 a.m. at SHJ, 7:00 a.m. at SPP, 7:00 a.m. at HA, 8:00 a.m. at SHJ, 8:25 a.m. at SM, 8:30 a.m. at HA, 11:40 a.m. at HA, 7:00 p.m. at SM, and 7:00 p.m. at SHJ.

We are currently working as a staff and FIT Team to look at the nominations for the patron of NW-7 to come up with a

final ballot and the next steps in the process. Thank you again for your nominations.

Thank you to our liturgical ministers. We have had some training sessions in the past week, and I have appreciated everyone desiring to do their role well, their honest questions, and their willingness to adjust. I appreciate each and every one of you.

Peace in Christ,

Fr. Jarred Kohn
