ADVENT – A TIME OF PREPARATION

Lori ElsassReligious Education News

DID YOU KNOW? Advent comes from the Latin word meaning “coming”?  Jesus is coming, and Advent is our season to prepare for His arrival!  As Catholics, we typically regard this as a JOYOUS season.  This is a time to prepare much like our Lenten Season.  Prayer, penance and fasting are all appropriate. The color of purple is associated with Advent as the color is associated with penance. The color of the Third Sunday of Advent is rose.  Rose represents joy and the happiness we will experience when Jesus comes again.  Sundays in Advent are always a day to celebrate.  Now is the time to create your own family traditions around the Advent Season.  Our Lord, Jesus Christ is coming and let us REJOICE!
